How to serve caramel apple spiced rum cider
This warm cocktail is perfect for chilly fall & winter nights, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Eve.
It’s great because it stays in the slow cooker on warm and guests can serve themselves.
Optional garnishes: cinnamon sticks, apple slices or chopped apple
Great to serve with Slow Cooker Apple Cobbler or Pumpkin Spice Rum Cake!
💡Tips & Tricks
- Rum: I use Sailor Jerry spiced rum, but feel free to use gold rum or another brand.
- Batch: This is easy to double, you just need a bigger slow cooker or a second slow cooker.
- Hot or Cold: This is just as delicious cold! If we have leftovers from the night before, we’ll get it out of the fridge and pour it over ice.

Slow Cooker Caramel Apple Spiced Rum Cider
Equipment
- 4 or 5-quart slow cooker
- whisk
Ingredients
- 6 cups apple cider (48 ounces)
- 1/4 cup caramel topping (I use Smucker's)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 apple sliced or chopped
- 3/4 cup spiced rum
Instructions
- Add the apple cider, caramel, and vanilla extract to the slow cooker. Use a whisk to incorporate the caramel until it has mostly dissolved. Add the spices (cinnamon sticks, cloves, ground nutmeg), and give everything a stir. For softer apple, add it now, for more crisp apple, add it later. Cook on high for 1 1/2 hours.
- After 1 1/2 hours, turn the slow cooker to "warm". Add the spiced rum and apple (if you didn't earlier). Give everything a stir and it's done. Great served with apple slices. Enjoy!
Notes
- Although seven cups of liquid go into the slow cooker, through evaporation and apple absorption, this recipe makes (6) 8-ounce servings.
- If you double this recipe, make sure to allow extra time for everything to heat through.
- If you have any leftovers, you can store them in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Because apple cider is usually unfiltered, you may have apple sediment at the bottom and need to stir it when serving.
- This is delicious cold too!
If you love fall flavors like apple and warm spices, this cozy cocktail is a great addition to your Thanksgiving menu!
