Made with red wine, spiced rum, orange, apple, and warm spices, Slow Cooker Warm Apple Cinnamon Spiced Wine is the perfect cozy drink for fall & winter!
Add apple cider, wine, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and cloves to slow cooker.
Peel a clean, washed orange and add the orange peel in the slow cooker. Cut the peeled orange in half and squeeze the juice into the liquids in the slow cooker.
Put the lid on and turn to "high" for an hour.
Reduce the temperature to either "low" or "keep warm", add rum and the sliced/diced apple. It can sit with the lid on or off for hours or serve after the rum and apples have been added. Serve in mugs and garnish with apple and/or cinnamon sticks.
Stove Instructions
Add everything but the rum (apple cider, wine, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and cloves) to a large sauce pan or Dutch oven and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes, then add the rum and the sliced/diced apple. Serve in mugs and garnish with apple slices and/or cinnamon sticks.
Notes
Traditional mulling spices include star of anise. I don't care for its licorice flavor, so I omitted it. Feel free to add it if you like.
I like Sailor Jerry spiced rum, but feel free to use what you like best!
