Made with red wine, spiced rum, and the flavors of apples, cinnamon, and warm spices, Slow CookerWarm Apple Cinnamon Spiced Wine is the perfect cozy drink for a cold night! This festive drink can be made in a slow cooker or on the stove.
Add apple cider, wine, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and cloves to slow cooker.
Peel a clean, washed orange and throw the orange peel in the slow cooker. Cut the peeled orange in half and squeeze the juice into the liquids in the slow cooker.
Put the lid on and turn to "high" for an hour.
Reduce the temperature to either "low" or "keep warm", add rum and if using it, the sliced/diced apple. It can sit with the lid on or off for hours or serve after the rum and apples have been added. Serve in mugs and garnish with apple and/or cinnamon sticks.
Stove Instructions
Add everything but the rum to a large sauce pan or Dutch oven, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes, then add the rum and if using, the sliced/diced apple. Serve in mugs and garnish with apple slices and/or cinnamon sticks.
Notes
Traditional mulling spices include star of anise. I don't care for its licorice flavor, so I omitted it. Feel free to add it if you like.
I like Sailor Jerry spiced rum, but feel free to use what you like best!
