Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • paper towels
  • Mixing bowl
  • microwave-safe bowl
  • baking sheet if making in the oven

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds chicken wings fresh or frozen
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons sriracha start with 2, add more if desired
  • crushed red pepper flakes to taste

Instructions

FRESH Chicken Wings

  • Preheat air fryer to 400℉ for at least 5 minutes.
  • Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels. Dry chicken wings= crispy chicken wings. Add wings to a mixing bowl and drizzle on olive oil. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and chili powder on the wings and use tongs to make sure it's evenly distributed.
  • Arrange wings in a single layer of the air fryer, making sure they are not crowded (depending on the size of your air fryer, this may take batches). Cook for 12 minutes*, then flip them over and cook another 10-12 minutes or until crispy.
*After you flip the wings and put them back in the air fryer, make the sauce by melting the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then add the honey and sriracha. Stir to combine.
With clean tongs, toss the finished wings in the sauce and sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes on, to taste. Enjoy!

FROZEN Chicken Wings

  • Add frozen wings to air fryer. It's ok if they're frozen together, as long as they fit in the air fryer. Cook frozen wings at 400℉ for 10 minutes. This will mostly defrost them and start the cooking process.
  • Remove the wings from the air fryer and add to a mixing bowl. Drizzle on olive oil. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and chili powder on the wings and use tongs to make sure it's evenly distributed.

Enjoy!

Oven-Baked Chicken Wings

  • Preheat oven to 425℉ for at least 10-15 minutes.
  • Arrange chicken wings on a baking sheet. Feel free to line it with parchment paper or foil. Bake for 20 minutes*, turn them over, then bake another 20-25 minutes, or until they're nice & crispy.
*After you flip the wings and put them back in the oven, make the sauce by melting the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then add the honey and sriracha. Stir to combine.
  • With clean tongs, toss the finished wings in the sauce and sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes on, to taste. Enjoy!

Notes

  • There are approximately 5-6 chicken wings in a pound.  The stated "4 servings" is based on each person having 3-4 wings.
  • If using frozen wings, the cook time will take 10 minutes longer.
  • Although great for some things, air fryer liners are not great for chicken wings as we want maximum airflow for maximum crispiness. I do not use liners in this recipe.
  • Be sure to not toss the wings in the sauce until after they've cooked as we don't want to burn the honey.
