Equipment

  • pitcher

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of dry red wine 750ml
  • 1 cup blackberry moonshine (I used 'Ole Smoky' brand)
  • 1 large orange the juice of
  • 1 lime the juice of
  • 1 apple chopped
  • sparkling water (I use club soda)
  • extra fruit for garnish (blackberries, strawberries, orange slices) optional
  • ice

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients except for the sparkling water to a pitcher and stir.
  • Add ice to glasses and pour sangria over the ice. Top with a splash of sparkling water and give a light stir. Add any additional fresh fruit garnishes and enjoy!

Notes

There are lots of great sparkling water options.  I tend to use ones that are not sweetened - club soda or diet tonic.
I don't like adding the sparkling water to the sangria in the pitcher because it will lose it effervescence and become flat.  Best when added when serving.
This recipe makes 8 servings for average sized glasses with ice.
