Have you tried crushed Calabrian chili peppers?  They are my new favorite condiment!

Since I first tried them, I’ve been trying to find ways to incorporate them into my recipes, which is how Calabrian Chili Garlic Bread came to be, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out!

If you thought garlic bread was good enough as-is, just wait until you try this recipe!

The spicy crushed Italian peppers combined with garlic, and butter gives you an out-of-this-world crispy, crunchy, garlicky bread that you won’t be able to put down!

What are Crushed Calabrian Chili Peppers?

A jar of crushed Calabrian chili peppers is made Italian hot peppers, oil, salt, herbs, and sometimes, vinegar.

A spoonful of them adds an amazing burst of spicy, piquant flavor to whatever you put them on.  They’re kind of like crushed red pepper flakes, but infinitely more flavorful!

How to make Calabrian Chili Garlic Bread:

  1. Slice the loaf of French bread in half length-wise.
  2. Combine all of the ingredients (butter, Calabrian chili peppers, salt, garlic, parsley) in a bowl.  When combined, slather the butter mixture over both halves of bread.

What else can you do with crushed Calabrian chili peppers?

Crushed Calabrian chili peppers are fabulous on top of pizza instead of regular red pepper flakes, swirled into tomato-based pasta sauces, or mixed with mayo for a flavorful, zingy sandwich spread.

They add lots of flavor to Calabrian Chicken Meatballs!

They also add a perfect level of spiciness in this Cheesy Baked Spicy Italian Dip (pictured below).

NOTES:

  • I normally make this with fresh garlic, but one day I realized I was out of it (shocked face emoji), so I used garlic powder instead and it was still fantastic.
  • I get my crushed Calabrian chili peppers either online at Supermarket Italy, or at Trader Joe’s.  *Supermarket Italy did not sponsor this post, but they did sponsor Cheesy Baked Spicy Italian Dip, where I originally got crushed Calabrian chili peppers.*
