Blackberry Moonshine Sangria
Blackberry Moonshine Sangria – the ultimate summer cocktail! This refreshing mixed drink blends the sweet flavors of blackberry moonshine with dry red wine, sparkling water, and plenty of fresh fruit! Perfect for BBQs, parties, and everyday entertaining, it’s like summer in a glass!

My new summer obsession – Blackberry Moonshine Sangria! It’s cold, it’s refreshing, and it’s absolutely delicious!
I recently had a cocktail at a local establishment that was made with blackberry moonshine. It was my first time trying blackberry-flavored moonshine, and I fell in love with the fruity, yet potent elixir on the first sip.
I knew I had to go home and create something with it, and after some experimenting, this Blackberry Moonshine Sangria was born!
This cocktail is fruity without being too sweet, and the rich blackberry essence is the perfect addition to the dark flavors in dry red wine!
It also has the juice of a sweet orange, some lime juice for tang, and a splash of sparkling water for a little effervescence. Throw in some chopped apple and you’ll have a magical glass of sangria!

- Dry red wine
- Blackberry Moonshine (I used Ole Smoky brand)
- Orange
- Apple
- Lime
- Sparkling water
- Ice

How to serve Blackberry Moonshine Sangria:
Sangria is best and most refreshing served over ice. I like to use either goblets or a rocks/old fashioned glass.
Make sure to get some of the chopped apple into each glass and feel free to garnish with extra fresh fruit like: blackberries, strawberries, orange slices, or pineapple.
Don’t add the sparkling water until you’re ready to serve the sangria or it will lose its effervescence.
What kind of wine is best for sangria?
If you prefer dry wines like I do, a cabernet sauvignon, malbec, tempranillo, or zinfandel are nice options.
The more fruit-forward merlot is great if you’re looking for something with a deeper fruity note.
What type of sparkling water to use in sangria?
You can use your favorite kind of sparkling water. If you’re not sure, tonic water, seltzer water, sparkling mineral water, and club soda are all good choices.
Keep in mind, that if you use a flavored water, you may alter the taste of the sangria.

NOTES:
- There is approximately 1/4 cup – 1/3 cup of juice in an average navel orange.
- This sangria can be made in advance, but make sure you don’t add the ice or sparkling water until serving.

Blackberry Moonshine Sangria
Equipment
- pitcher
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of dry red wine 750ml
- 1 cup blackberry moonshine (I used 'Ole Smoky' brand)
- 1 large orange the juice of
- 1 lime the juice of
- 1 apple chopped
- sparkling water (I use club soda)
- extra fruit for garnish (blackberries, strawberries, orange slices) optional
- ice
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients except for the sparkling water to a pitcher and stir.
- Add ice to glasses and pour sangria over the ice. Top with a splash of sparkling water and give a light stir. Add any additional fresh fruit garnishes and enjoy!
