Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken recipe is an insanely easy dinner to make, yet super delicious!
Fresh broccoli combined with chicken and teriyaki sauce in the slow cooker turns into a magical, tasty dinner the whole family will love!
You can throw the broccoli in at the beginning, but for better texture, I like to add it at the end, then garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced scallions.
The slow cooker makes this a great recipe for busy weeknights! All you’ll have to make at dinnertime is rice!
Slow Cooker Japanese Chicken Curry is another favorite Japanese recipe for the slow cooker!

How to serve Teriyaki Chicken & Broccoli:
Teriyaki chicken and broccoli is perfect served over rice or tossed with lo mein noodles.
You could serve this over brown rice, white rice, farro, cauliflower rice, or your favorite side.
Some other side dishes for this meal are:
- Crispy egg rolls
- Steamed or fried gyoza
- Garlic Sesame Green Beans
- Scallion pancakes
TIP: Trader Joe’s has fantastic gyoza, egg rolls, and scallion pancakes in their freezer section! Bonus, they’re inexpensive too!
How to store teriyaki chicken
Once cooled, you can store leftover teriyaki chicken in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
It can also be frozen in freezer-safe packaging for up to 2-3 months. Note that the broccoli’s texture may become soft when reheated.
💡Tips & Tricks
- Broccoli: I use fresh broccoli in this recipe to avoid the liquid frozen broccoli may add. To avoid mushy broccoli, add it towards the end of the cooking time, not at the beginning with the chicken.
- Spice level: I like how the heat of Sriracha helps cut the inherent sweetness of teriyaki sauce. Feel free to add more or less to suit your tastes.
- Chicken: If you prefer, you can use chicken thighs instead. Note that they take less time to cook, so you may need to adjust the cooking time.
- Teriyaki sauce: For convenience, I use my favorite bottle of teriyaki sauce (shown below).

Thank you for letting me know! So glad it was a hit :)
I made this recipe and it turned out very well!
It was sooo delicious. I used chicken tenders and cooked 2 hrs on high with scallions, I added slightly steamed broccoli towards the last 20 minutes
Can you substitute asparagus and/or carrots the broccoli? I’m referring to the Teriyaki Chicken with Broccoli recipe in the slow cooker. Thank you.
I have only recipe tested this with fresh broccoli. I think carrots would be fine, but the asparagus will probably get soft quickly. If you use it, I would add it at the end. Enjoy!
I made this yesterday! Since I only had frozen broccoli I steamed that instead. The chicken and sauce was so good… kids already asked when I would make it again. Thank you!!
Recipe s looks delicious
Thank you for the feedback, Alice! :)
